About Me ...
Travel Writer and Photographer
The World through My Lens
Hi there, I'm Wendy and I met my husband in 1998, we married in 2005. For many years we had the usual annual few weeks of freedom from work, longed for and passed too quickly. In 2021 I evaluated my work-life balance and decided those days were long gone and it was time to break free from tradition. I gave up my full-time career as an NHS Operations Manager, and undertook self-employed project work to cover the bills.
This enabled me to work 6 months and take 6 months off to travel each year, giving me time to really ignite my passion for photography and writing. Most of our adventures have been in our motorhome, with other jaunts thrown in for good measure.

Two years on and I hit the big 50! They say opportunity knocks in the strangest ways, and in 2023 it did. So after some deliberation, and yet further evaluation, I've gone back to college to cement my future career as a freelance photographer and travel writer. In case you haven't noticed, I don't sit still for long!

Like many people I know, I have made travel a natural part of my life. Leaving home is now as routine as brushing my teeth, but way more fun as I'm incorporating my career into my adventures.
I started White Rose Wanderer in 2023 with the goal of inspiring others to travel and see places in a way that’s both thrilling and meaningful. I like to think of myself as a bit of an explorer, charting new paths for my readers. My hope is that my insight and advice can help make your next travel experience the best one yet.
